Many people with Peripheral Artery Disease, or P.A.D., have no symptoms, and you may not notice any warning signs. That's why it's so
important to talk to your doctor about getting tested if you have any of the risk
factors for P.A.D. One study among people who had been diagnosed with P.A.D. showed that the majority didn't even know they had it — and that their risk for heart attack or stroke was more than doubled.
If you're over 50 with risks for heart disease or have pain or heaviness in your legs while walking, it's especially important to talk to your doctor about getting tested because you may be at risk for P.A.D.
